Friendly
Series of four commercials for television and online focused on helping people affected by dementia.
My role
I implemented the lady character in the Beerenstraat episode, starting from the illustrator sketch I gave the character a feeling of being lost at the park. I worked on the transitions and compositing of all 3 videos.
I also animated the fisherman character and the old man at the swimming pool starting from real life reference. I was also responsible for the “hand painted look” and 3D transformation of the door in the third video.
Description:
This project was developed thanks to The Alzheimer Foundation, PGGM, and the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sport. The agency Havas Lemz collected real stories from people with dementia and asked Kate Pugsley to illustrate them. Every episode explain a situation where elderly people find difficulties in everyday life.
The challenge for our team at Woodwork was to create fulla nimations starting from a couple of sketches and recreate the illustrator’s style. We used hand drawn animation, 3D and After effects compositing in order to achieve a fluid yet childish animation style.
This project won the ADCN bronze award.
